The Life of Orlie May White

hello. I am orlie.

I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Visual Arts with a minor of religion at Barnard College of Columbia University.

I have interned at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in both Jewelry Merchandising and Teen and Family Outreach Programs and in the Whitney Museum’s Youth Artists Insights Program. I have also worked in outreach and development for No Agency New York.

Starting in 2014, I have taken numerous classes in art (oil painting, charcoal drawing, figure drawing, still life, watercolor, mixed-media and photography) and fashion (sewing, pattern-making, knitting, styling) and business (branding, advertising, marketing, and trend-forecasting) at The Art Student’s League, Parsons School of Design, and Fashion Institute of Technology.

I can be found in an art museum, thrift shop, or wandering the streets of New York City, probably petting someone’s dog.

I like lowercase letters, magazine cut-outs, and watching the credits of movies. i like feeling like i am where I must be. I like reading books, although I need to do it more. I spend too much time on my phone, i can't save a penny, and I prefer tea to coffee. I like knotted earphones and funny faces, photo booths and long lines, and seeing how colors blend together when I take off my glasses. I play the violin and tap dance, both not very well.
